National market control campaign 2019-2022 on refrigerants

The cantonal enforcement authorities conducted a nationally coordinated market control campaign on refrigerants between 2019 and 2022. The aim of the campaign was to check whether the provisions of Annex 2.10 of the Chemical Risk Reduction Ordinance (ORRChem) are being complied with, to raise awareness in the industry and ultimately to reduce emissions of ozone depleting refrigerants and refrigerants stable in the atmosphere.

As part of a national campaign, 50 mineral phosphate fertilizers were tested.
The product declarations and the ingredients largely complied with the legal requirements.


Treated Articles - First European Enforcement Project of the Subgroup of the Forum for the BPR

The first enforcement project of the Subgroup of the Forum for the BPR covered treated articles. Switzerland was also allowed to participate in this project. It showed that there is a need for action in the labelling of treated articles.

Market control of heavy metals in electrical and electronic equipment III "Small electronic equipment"

As part of a coordinated 2018 market survey, numerous small electronic devices (and the batteries they contained) in Switzerland and Liechtenstein were examined for lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) and cadmium (Cd) as well as certain marking elements.


Biocidal products in facade coatings campaign

Facade products such as paint, wood varnishes and plaster were analysed for several relevant active substances and products were evaluated in terms of the chemicals legislation. Encapsulated active substances were also analytically examinated.

Report: Arsen in stuffed animal specimens

Up until the 1980s, (stuffed) animal specimens, often found in teaching and display collections, were treated with arsenic trioxide and mercury-containing biocides, as well as other biocides, to protect them from insect pests. The actual health risk posed to teachers and pupils was examined by simulating different teaching scenarios.
