Substances in articles (products)

EEA-based clients (importers) from Swiss companies must fulfil the REACH-related obligations, in the case that an only representative does not assume these obligations.

Registration of substances

Only substances that are intentionally released from an article (e.g. fragrances), must be registered; and then only when the amount of the substance exceeds a total of 1 tonne per year and per manufacturer or importer in the EEA (Art. 7 (1) REACH). See also Registration.

Articles with prohibited or restricted substances (Annex XVII REACH)

Various substances that can be present in articles are regulated in Annex XVII. Swiss exporters should draw the attention of their clients in the EEA to these substances when appropriate, or not deliver articles with prohibited substances into the EEA.
