RIVM Exposure assessment

RIVM launches new web-based version of ConsExpo “ConsExpo Web”.

An improved version of the computer program ConsExpo is now freely available via the RIVM website. Experts within and outside Europe use the program to assess the exposure to chemical substances from everyday uses of consumer products such as paint, cleaning agents and personal care products.

Exposure calculations from ConsExpo Web provide information needed to assess the safety of chemical substances in consumer products. Government organisations, institutes and industries can perform these assessments using ConsExpo Web in a transparent and standardised way. ConsExpo was developed in 1993 by RIVM for the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. ConsExpo Web has now been updated RIVM in collaboration with FOPH (Switzerland), ANSES (France), BfR (Germany) and Health Canada. These institutes will continue to further develop the tool and the fact sheets which hold information about the circumstances under which consumers are exposed to chemicals.

ConsExpo Web is now available. Registration is free. Professionals who want to stay informed on ConsExpo developments can join the dedicated LinkedIn community ‘Consumer Exposure and ConsExpo’. The links can be found on this page under ‘Links’.
