Authorisation procedure AN for in situ generated active substances

Autorisation AN for In-situ Systems

In-situ generated active substances, as well as their precursors, are considered biocidal products and are subject to authorisation requirements.

Type 1: In situ systems with at least one precursor WITHOUT a device

No generation device is required for this in situ system. At least one precursor is placed on the market as a biocidal product.

Type 2: In situ systems with at least one precursor WITH a device

A device is required to generate this in situ system. At least one precursor is placed on the market as a biocidal product.

Type 3: In-situ system based on a catalyst and subsequent activation (Free Radicals)

Coating or mixture containing a catalyst that releases the active substance “free radicals generated in situ from ambient air and water” in situ.

Type 4: In-situ system consisting of at least one precursor and/or a device to generate in-situ active substances. The precursor is not marketed for biocidal purposes.

System in which no precursor is placed on the market and/or a device is required to generate active substances in situ.
