06.11.2025: REACH, EU : one substance of very high concern added to the candidate list
The European Chemicals Agency has added the following substance of very high concern (SVHC) to the candidate list:
When an article contains more than 0.1% SVHC of the candidate list, this leads to information obligations for the supplier towards recipients and consumers.

In Switzerland too, the information obligation towards recipients and consumers applies to suppliers of objects containing more than 0.1% of a substance listed in annex 3 ChemO.

14.08.2025: Biocides fees increase with inflation
The European Commission has adopted the revised Biocides Fee Regulation to account for inflation. Standard fees for companies related to active substance approvals, Union authorisations and other tasks, such as technical equivalence checks, increase by 19.5%.
The 19.5% rise in fees reflects the average annual inflation rate in Europe between 2021 and 2023 and is the first fee adjustment since the Biocidal Products Regulation entered into force in 2013.
The fees are listed in the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1490 (see link below).
The updated fees apply from 14 August 2025.

10.12.2024: General ruling on the control of the adult tiger mosquito and general ruling on the control of the Asian hornet
The general ruling of the notification authority on the authorisation of biocidal products for the control of the tiger mosquito of 1 May 2024 is extended until 30 November 2025. And the general ruling on the authorisation of biocidal products for the control of the Asian hornet of 11 April 2024 is extended until 30 November 2025.
The general rulings are only available in German, French and Italian.
22.03.2023: Information sheet about fluoroalkysilanol compounds
The handling of fluoroalkysilanol compounds can lead to acute health problems for workers. In 2022, a few hospitalizations occurred after working with fluoroalkylsilanol compounds. Such occupational accidents should be preventable in the future. For this reason, SECO, in close cooperation with SUVA, has drawn up an information sheet.
