Release Notes
Here you will find the (current) release notes with information on changes, new features or bug fixes in RPC.
Release Note: Chemicals Product Register V 4.13
Version 4.13 of the Chemical Products Register (RPC) was released on 26 August 2025. This version introduces improvements to the workflow.
What’s new:
- The status ‘under review’ for preparations has been removed.
- All products with the status “Announced” have been migrated to the status ‘Processing’.
- Improvements to workflow management by federal administration staff
- Public search for UFI numbers has been removed. The UFI number is always present in the product summary
Fixed bugs
- Synchronisation of PBT, vPvB and SVHC descriptors
Impact on users:
- Update of products that were in ‘Announced’ status
For mass reporting interface (MMT) users
- The new field declaredSDB="true/false" (SDB = Sicherheitsdatenblatt,) must be integrated in company software. For more information Mass reporting interface (MMT) (Update end of June)
- Backward compatibility is ensured for now – deprecated fields will be ignored
- ⚠️ Important: Backward compatibility will be phased out in the coming years. A timeline will be announced. We recommend implementing declaredSDB as soon as possible.
Version 4.12 of the Chemical Products Register (RPC) was released on June 11, 2025. This release includes key updates to simplify and enhance user data entry.
What’s new:
- General improvements to forms
- New hint icons to assist data entry
- Renaming of several fields for clarity
- Descriptors PBT (Persistent, Bioaccumulative, Toxic), vPvB (very Persistent, very Bioaccumulative), and SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) are now automatically imported based on the listed substances
- Removal of GHS classification (Globally Harmonized System – referred to as SGH in DE/FR/IT)
- Each component in the “Composition” section must be marked as present or not present in the SDS (Safety Data Sheet)
- Manual entry of substances not found in the central database is no longer allowed (except for fertilizers)
- H‑statements (from GHS classification) are automatically carried over to the “Labelling” step
- The annual market quantity is now mandatory for products hazardous to the environment
- New interface for the Classification, Labelling and Documents steps
- The SDS is automatically visible to any user with a login (access rights can be changed manually)
- New comment fields at the end of the submission

For mass reporting interface (MMT) users

Version 4.11 of the Product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 13.03.2025. This is a new version of RPC with some changes regarding the research.
What’s new:
- New search filters.
- A hyperlink to the CPID number has been added, which allows you to open a product in a new window with the right mouse button.
- Possibility to share the desired filters by sending the RPC link.
- Possibility to download the search results in a personalised Excel table (personal choice of columns)
- Improved system performance

- More precise search and possibility to filter results directly in RPC

Version 4.10 of the Product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 29.01.2025, with new features:
What's new:

Version 4.8 of the Product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 30.10.2024. This is a bug fix release:
Fixed bugs
- Ability to overwrite and edit nanomaterial and quantity placed on the market information
- Improvements on the PDF form for main users
- Small performance improvement
- The step for sharing confidential information has been moved for a more intuitive use
- Other minor corrections
Version 4.7 of the Product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 09.10.2024. This is a new version of RPC with some very important changes.
What’s new:
- New process for activating profiles for firms --> after creating the CH-Login, the entire process of requesting access to a firm can be done directly in RPC (for more extensive information: Opening and managing user accounts (admin.ch))
- The sub-user role has been split into two new roles: internal and external (for more extensive information: User roles (admin.ch))
- Delegation of the management of company-related accounts by the main user (for more extensive information: User management by the main users (admin.ch))
- Sharing of confidential information (for more extensive information: Sharing or replacing information protected by the authorship (admin.ch))
- Possibility of switching between profiles without having to log in again (for more extensive information: Sharing or replacing information protected by the authorship (admin.ch) -> Change User Profile and default profile)New start page
- Introduction of a feedback system
Fixed bugs
• Visibility of the EC number
Impact on users:
- All existing accounts have been automatically migrated according to this rule: Migration of the existing roles (admin.ch)
- Sub-users will no longer be authorised by the notification authority for chemicals but will be authorised by the main users of the Swiss company
- Main users will always be authorised by the Notification Authority for Chemicals
- The role for the mass notification tool will always have to be requested via cheminfo@bag.admin.ch
Version 4.6 of the Product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 24.01.2024. This version is intended to correct a few bugs and introduce some internal improvements.
What's new:
- For biocidal products, it will no longer be necessary to enter the chemical manufacturer's e-mail address/telephone number
- Changes have been made to the interface in the composition section: the button for replacing the composition is more visible, and the names of very long products/substances have been adapted to the interface
- System stability has been improved
- Bug fix: The component material categories (CMC) for fertiliser raw materials are also mandatory for raw materials transferred from the old interfac
Impact on users:
- Communication from the chemical manufacturer can continue as before version 4.5
- There should be fewer internal system errors
Version 4.5 of the Product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 13.12.2023. The main changes concern fertilisers and biocidal products, as a consequence of the revision of their respective ordinances (OBP, DüV).
What's new:
- Revision of the Ordinance on the Placing on the Market of Fertilisers:
- Fertilisers will be approved according to two new procedures instead of the former three.
- Introduction of new Product Function Categories (PFC).
- Introduction of new Component Material Categories (CMC).
- All fertilisers will have to be classified and labelled according to GHS.
- More information on fertiliser homologation can be found on the following page (in German): Zulassung von Düngern (admin.ch) (page will be updated before 01.01.2024).
- Revision of the Ordinance on Biocidal Products:
- Starting 1.1.2024, it is possible to report the quantity of biocidal products placed on the market according to Art. 30c OBP. Reporting is done via the tab «Biocidal product quantity». More information will be published on our website in the coming week
- Upgrade to Java 17.
- Small user interface improvements:
- New icon for active substances.
- Interface improvement for contacts.
- Companies based in Liechtenstein can once again be registered using the UID register.
- The list of available authorisation procedures for biocidal products has been shortened.
- The product duplication function has been expanded to also cover fertilisers.
- A search filter for PFCs has been added.
Impact on users:
- Fertilisers will be automatically migrated to the new procedures when changes occur.
- For the authorisation of biocidal products, only AN procedures are now available.
- Improved fertiliser search.
- Possibility of duplicating existing fertilisers
- Revision of the Ordinance on the Placing on the Market of Fertilisers:
Version 4.4 of the product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 07.06.2023. This new release features a redesigned front-end interface with improved usability and new functionalities.
What's new:
- The ‹duplicate product› functionality will be activated and available again
- The interface has been visually improved and harmonised with the other specialised applications from the federal government.
- Switching between languages has been made easier.
- The GHS classification and labelling steps of the different product types now support multiple item selection
- Updates to the search page:
- Search filters have been regrouped under new tabs: «Product data» for filtering products by their properties
- «Registrant» for filtering products by their registrant (only visible to federal, cantonal and ToxInfo accounts, or when using the public register)
- «Status» for filtering products by their status
- It is now possible to search by company C-ID in the Registrant tab
- When searching without selecting a filter, the search engine now performs a general search.
- It is no longer necessary to use the asterisk « * » as a wildcard for partial searches.
- New form for Annex 1.17 substances:
- Reporting and/or requesting exemptions for substances listed in Annex 1.17 ORRChem (Annex XIV REACH) can now be done directly in RPC using a dedicated form.
Impact on users:
- Users’ preferred language should now be remembered between sessions.
- For business users:
- Registrants can now list all their products with a single click on the search page.
- The option to download product lists has been moved from the search page to the menu bar, in the «Downloads» menu.
- For federal, cantonal and ToxInfo users:
- The link to Analysis, or queries reports (“Abfragen”), has been moved from the menu bar to the dashboard, in the «Searches» section.
- The ‹duplicate product› functionality will be activated and available again
Version 4.3 of the product register for chemicals (RPC) has been released on 25.01.2023. This is a release to fix some bugs and apply some internal enhancements

Impact on users:
- As this release mainly contains internal upgrades, it shouldn't have any impact on users.
Version 4.2 of the Chemical Register (RPC) was released on 14.12.2022. It is a version released to correct some errors and to implement new features regarding the mass notification tool.
What's new:
- Two new types of fertiliser have been added:
o 790: NK fertiliser suspension
o 791: NK fertiliser suspension with urea-formaldehyde - Mass notification tool (see: Supplement Release Notes 4.2):

Impact on users:
Please note that backward compatibility with previous codes has been foreseen, but is unlikely to be maintained beyond next year. We therefore advise you to adapt your systems as soon as possible, bearing in mind that new changes may be necessary with future releases. At the end of this period, files containing obsolete codes will no longer be validated by the system. Further timely information on the duration of the backward compatibility period will follow.
Please note that with this release a new version of the user manual for the mass communication tool has been published (Mass registration interface (admin.ch)).- Two new types of fertiliser have been added:
Version 4.1 of the Chemical Register (RPC) was released on 05.10.2022. It is a version released to correct some errors and to implement new features regarding the mass notification tool.
What's new:
- Reactivation of the ‹duplicate product› functionality.
- Change of definition for the type of substance.
- Insertion of c/o in addresses (if present).
- Mass notification tool (see: Supplement Release Notes 4.1):
- Update of products via XML file containing an EAN number or the symbol _ again possible.
- New code for additional trade names (Section 3. Additional Trade Names in "Supplement Release Notes 4.1")
- New code for entering the article number (Section 4. Article Numbers in "Complement Release Notes 4.1")
- Correction for classifications that do not have associated H-phrases (Section 5. GHS Classification in "Complement Release Notes 4.1")
- Modification of descriptor-related rules for substances (Section 6. Descriptors in "Complement Release Notes 4.1")
Impact on users:
- The ‹duplicate product› functionality will be activated and available again.

The first RPC version of the APIS project was released on 01.06.2022. This first version is a preparation for the implementation of new features planned for the coming months.
What's new:
• Address management:
o Each company will have a unique identification number: company ID (CID)
o The UID number (if existing) will be present in the "Registrant" section.
o If an authorization (for biocidal products and new substances) is required, the notification authority for chemicals can be informed of the form (hard copy or Incamail) in which it is to be served. The selected method of notification can be seen in the "Registrant" section".
