Switzerland is the recognizing or notifying authority
If Switzerland is the recognising or notifying authority, this means that it does not itself perform the risk assessment for the authorisation. It checks, the assessment of the evaluating reference member state in the EU or EFTA for its accuracy and, the conditions of use and corresponding risk reduction measures to protect the health of the public and the environment in respect of a possible adoption of the authorisation and its conditions of use in Switzerland.
Mutual recognition
The procedure for mutual recognition enables to obtain an authorisation granted according to the harmonised European procedure for a biocidal product in Switzerland that has been evaluated and authorised by another EU or EFTA Member State.
Recognition of a Union authorization
The procedure for the Union authorisation makes it possible for a biocidal product to be authorised for the entire EEA Market (plus Switzerland), thereby obviating the need for an application in the individual states.
Authorization of the same products
Biocidal products that are identical to a product or product family that has already been authorised according to the harmonised European procedure can be authorised as same biocidal products.
Notification of a simplified authorisation
A biocidal product authorised according to the simplified procedure may be placed on the market in all Member States by a declaration, without the need for mutual recognition.
Authorisation for parallel trade
A licence for parallel trade can be granted for a biocidal product that is authorised in an EU Member State and is identical to a biocidal product that is already authorised in Switzerland according to the harmonised European procedure.
