Two-factor authentication

Due to the confidential data contained in RPC, secure access with a user account (CH-Login) is only possible via two-factor authentication. This chapter presents all the authentication options.

For security reasons, two-factor authentication has been mandatory for all (CH login) user accounts with access to the product register for chemicals (RPC) since 1 April 2022.

As certain data in the RPC is considered sensitive and confidential, two-factor authentication is mandatory when creating a (CH-Login) user account.

In addition to the e-mail address and password, three security questions and a second authentication factor must be set up once.

The authentication options are as follows:

Authenticator App
We recommend that you register an Authenticator app - these are available both as desktop versions for laptops and PCs, as well as app versions for smartphones.

Below you will find some links to recommended providers (list provided by the Federal Office of Information Technology and Telecommunications, FOITT):

Swiss mobile and landline numbers

  • mTAN by SMS (The mobileTAN, short mTAN, is a 6-digit numerical code that can be used only once, which you receive by SMS during a secure login)
  • mTAN via a landline number (option depending on the telephone provider used)
